How to Transfer WhatsApp Chat from Android to iPhone and Vice Versa
Have you recently switched from Android to iPhone or vice versa and looking for a way to transfer your WhatsApp chat history that includes your messages, media files and other attachments from one phone to another? Well, you are on the right path.
With over 1.5 billion users WhatsApp has become a household name. In fact, people these days rarely use the default messaging to communicate with their friends, family and colleagues. WhatsApp well-deserved this success, but things become quite frustrating when it comes to switching from one phone to another that is running on a different operating system. As you may be already aware that WhatsApp doesn't support cross platform transfer yet so it is simply not possible transfer WhatsApp messages between Android and iOS. Right?
Wrong. Now there is a brilliant app known as WhatsApp Transfer tool which makes it possible to transfer your WhatsApp chat history between Android and iPhone. You just need to install the program on your Mac or PC and then follow the following simple steps.

(A). Transfer WhatsApp chat history from your Android to iPhone
Install the "WhatsApp Transfer" tool on your computer and follow these instructions to transfer WhatsApp messages, media and other attachments from Android to your iPhone.
Step 1a: Enable USB debugging on your Android
First, you will need to turn on the USB debugging on your Android by going to Settings > Developer Options. If Developer Options are not visible in the Settings menu, then you need to manually enable them by going to "Settings" > "About Device" and tapping on the "Build Number" 7 times.
Step 1b: Make sure you have WhatsApp Messenger app on both Android and iPhone
Make sure you have active WhatsApp Messenger app installed on your Android with the phone number verified. WhatsApp should be also installed on the iPhone but there is no need to have the phone number verified on the iPhone. You can do it later.
Step 2: Run the program and connect both Android & iPhone to computer
Now, you'll be required to run the WhatsApp Transfer software on your computer and connect both Android and iPhone to your computer via USB cable. Click the "Transfer" button when the software recognize both the devices.
Step 3a: Backup Android WhatsApp chats to computer
Run the WhatsApp messenger on your Android and backup all the WhatsApp chats to the local storage by going to Settings > Chats > Chat backup and tapping on "Back Up" button. Make sure you disable backup to Google Drive option by selecting "Never" under "Back up to Google Drive" section before your tap on "Back Up" button.
Click the "Continue" button after backing up WhatsApp data to your phone storage/SD card, and the software will start reading WhatsApp data that is on your Android device.
Troubleshooting: What to do If the app says "no new backup detected"
If the app says "no new backup detected" even when you've already backed-up your Android WhatsApp chats to the local storage, then you need to click on "Select backup history" and select the most recent backup. Finally, you can click the "Continue" button and the app will start reading WhatsApp chats from the local storage. This step is optional. You need to follow it only when you encounter this problem even after backing up your chats.
Step 3b: Verify your WhatsApp account/phone number using the software
Before moving to next step, you need to enter your phone number that you were using on Android to use WhatsApp Messenger app.
Step 4: Prepare your iPhone for the transfer
Here are the few things we need to do before we connect our iPhone to the computer and restore chats from the backup:
a. First of all, you need to make sure that you have working WhatsApp on your iPhone with your phone number verified. You can remove the SIM from your Android and insert in on your iPhone for verifying your phone number. After logging in to your WhatsApp account, click the "Logged in" button.
b. Next go to Settings > Your Apple Profile > Find My and turn off the "Find my iPhone" feature. Ater transferring WhatsApp chats to your iPhone, you can re-enable this feature.
As soon as you turn off the "Find my iPhone" and click "Ok" button, software will start restoring WhatsApp chats to your iPhone.
Step 5: Disconnect the iPhone from computer
Now just sit back and wait. Disconnect your iPhone from your computer when you see "Transfer successfully" messages on your iPhone. You are now good to go.
(B). Transfer WhatsApp messages & media from iPhone to Android
You need to follow these 6 steps to transfer WhatsApp messages, media and other attachments from an iPhone to an Android. These instructions will work on all the Android devices (Android 9 to Android 13) and iOS devices running iOS 13 to iOS 17.
Step 1b: Download and install the app on your computer
First, you need to download and install the WhatsApp transfer app on your Windows or Mac computer.

Step 1b: Enable USB debugging feature on Android device
Before anything, you need to enable USB debugging feature on your Android by going to Settings > Developer options. If "Developer options" menu is not visible on your phone, then you need to go to Settings > About Device > Software information and tap "Build Number" seven times until you see a message like "Developer mode has been enabled" on your phone.
Step 1c: Make sure you have WhatsApp messenger on both iPhone & Android
It is absolutely essential that you have active WhatsApp Messenger app on your iPhone with your phone number verified. WhatsApp app should be installed on the Android as well, but there is no need to verify your phone number on the Android.
Step 2: Run the software and connect both iPhone and Android to computer
Now, run the "WhatsApp Transfer" app and connect both iPhone and Android to computer with the USB cable. Press the "Transfer" button as soon as the software detects both the smartphone and show them on its interface.
Step 3: Backup your iPhone WhatsApp messages to computer
As soon as you click the "Transfer" button software will start backing-up WhatsApp from your iPhone. Backup speed depends on the size of WhatsApp data you have on your iPhone.
Step 4: Verify your WhatsApp phone number
Now, you need to enter the phone number you are using to run WhatsApp messenger on your iPhone to verify your WhatsApp account.
Note: If you have enabled a "Two-step verification" for WhatsApp, then you may need to Settings > Settings > Account > Two-step verification and tap "Disable" button.
Step 5: Wait till the software transfer WhatsApp data to the target device
After verifying your phone number, you need to wait till the software transfer all the WhatsApp data from the backup to your Android device.
